The KNUST Junior High School (JHS) has received a Certificate of Merit for emerging as the Best JHS in Practical Agriculture in the Oforikrom Municipal District during the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebrations.
The award, presented at a district ceremony in Boadi, recognises the school’s leadership in hands-on agricultural training and its contribution to promoting food production skills among young learners.
The certificate, issued by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and signed by Minister Eric Opoku, commends KNUST JHS for excellence in integrating practical agriculture into basic education.
Farmers’ Day, observed nationwide on the first Friday of December, honours institutions and individuals whose work supports agricultural growth, food security and rural livelihoods.
KNUST JHS has maintained vegetable beds, demonstration plots and subject-based projects to strengthen students’ appreciation of agriculture.
Earlier in the week, KNUST Primary School held a Farmers’ Day sensitisation programme encouraging pupils to adopt home gardening, value food security and consider agriculture as a viable career. Teachers and agricultural experts urged learners to see farming as a prestigious profession central to Ghana’s future.
